Writing a New Tab Extension
Published on under the New Tab Extension (Series) category.
Writing an extension for Mozilla Firefox has been in my mental to-dos for a while. I like the idea of having my own new tab page. I used to use an extension called Momentum which displayed a nice image alongside the time. For my purposes, Momentum was a bit verbose. Every time I loaded a new tab, I had to render an image. Sometimes it took a second for that image to render. There were many customization features that I did not need.

Why I IndieWeb
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
I wrote a post a few days ago on how I IndieWeb. I feel like I should go further and talk for a moment about why I am an active participant on the IndieWeb. This topic came to mind in response to an email I received earlier today. This email made me think about my motivations behind contributing to the IndieWeb. What is it that excites me about contributing to the wiki? Why do I spend so much time building IndieWeb principles into my website.

Brewing Coffee With the Aeropress
Published on under the Coffee category.
The Aeropress is the device that first got me into the world of specialty coffee. Before I knew that there were different grind sizes and origins (and to think that was only a few months ago) I wanted a device that was as simple as possible. I was interested in coffee after having an experience drinking, of all coffees, a Greggs Cappuccino. It was my first coffee this year and it felt special. I was drinking coffee again and it tasted delicious.

Resisting Complexity on My Site
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
I am tempted by all of the IndieWeb websites to add more features to this site. Yesterday evening, I had somewhat of a realization: the parts of my website that stand the test of time are those that are simple and do not require any overhead.

Writing a Colophon

I am presently sitting with nothing else to do. I enjoy writing so here I am again, back for another (short) blog post.

How I IndieWeb
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
I've been following the IndieWeb actively for close to two months. The time has flown. I have felt that way about every day this year. My relationship with the IndieWeb really puts time into perspective for me. I digress. In this time, I have tried out a lot of different IndieWeb setups. People have commented on the speed at which I build new features on my site. I've had a lot of fun building new extensions and trying out new ideas.

The Five Factors of Coffee Tasting
Published on under the Coffee category.
Last night, I thought about high school for a moment. It has been a while. What brought high school to mind was that I considered how I could improve my learning. I've decided that I want to take a more structured approach to my coffee education so that I can stay on-track.

Owning a Raspberry Pi
Published on under the Technology category.
I've gone through about three topic ideas. This is the last time I am changing my mind. When I get tired, I lose the energy to think of great topics. This is my blog. Sometimes I'll write posts on a whim because I want to keep writing. I just thought that buying a Raspberry Pi may be one of the best investments I've made this year. I feel good about this because I was initially hesitant to purchase a Pi. If I had not have went through with the decision, I'd have not been able to build some of the projects I have worked on over the last few weeks.

Setting Up My Raspberry Pi
Published on under the Technology category.
I want to talk about a project I undertook yesterday. I set up my Raspberry Pi with a new SD card. I do not presently have the energy to think of a more interesting topic. These last few days have been tough. It happens sometimes. We all have days when we are not quite ourselves. This is a blog, not my journal, so I don't want to get bogged down in the details of reality. Here, I write about technology and coffee. To the story!

How I Design for Accessibility
Published on under the Web category.
I just finished an accessibility audit on my site. There is only one flag that is raised by Axe, the accessibility validator I use. I believe I can ignore that flag. It relates to the arrows that I use for my webrings. I do not believe the suggestion impacts the quality or accessibility of my website. I am proud to say that I've resolved many accessibility issues over the last few weeks.
