Guess the Scottish Cafe
Published on under the Guess the Scottish Cafe (Series) category.
I have already explored a number of Edinburgh coffee shops. I have visited Stockbridge, New Town, Old Town, and further afield for a cup of coffee. Now that I'm getting toward the end of my list of Edinburgh coffee shops, I have started to think about where to go next. I am not done visiting Edinburgh coffee shops, rather that I want to explore other places which also have good coffee shops to visit.

The printed blog
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
For the first time in months, I attended the London / Europe IndieWeb Homebrew Website Club. I have enjoyed attending these events in the past because they bring together people who are doing interesting things with the web to varying extents. In the last meeting, we covered everything from digital music quality to digital copyright to printing one's blog. The topic of printing one's blog is one I would like to dive into further.

How I built this website
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
A few weeks ago, someone asked me how I built my website. When faced with this question, one of the first ideas that came to mind is that I should write a blog post exploring this topic in more depth so that all of my readers can learn how the site is built. As I understand that my readers might be a mixture of both coffee lovers, website lovers, and others, I thought I'd try to keep the description as simple as possible.

Game: Guess the Edinburgh Cafe (Part 3)
Published on under the Coffee category.
Today I had the pleasure of drinking coffee from three separate coffee shops in Edinburgh. When I was in the second shop, I thought to myself that I should take a picture so that I can run another quiz. I took pictures in the other two shops I visited so that I would have enough for a quiz.

Tasting pour-over coffee at different points of extraction
Published on under the Coffee category.
I read about an experiment a while ago that lets you taste coffee at different points of extraction but I have always thought this experiment was only suitable for espresso. A few weeks ago, I tried the experiment and realised it worked with regular pour-over coffee. In my latest blog post for Steampunk Coffee, I share how I conducted an experiment to taste pour-over coffee at different points of extraction.

Coffee Ratio Calculator Tool
Published on under the Coffee category.
A few days ago, I released a coffee ratio calculator on this blog. The ratio calculator lets you figure out the simplest version of a coffee to water ratio. You can also figure out how much coffee you need to use to brew with a particular ratio and a certain amount of water, or you can figure out how much water you need to brew with a particular ratio and amount of coffee.

Game: Guess the Edinburgh Cafe (Part 2)
Published on under the Guess the Scottish Cafe (Series) category.
On Saturday, while I was in Edinburgh, I spent some time in coffee shops (as usual). [1] I am slowly making my way through the list of cafes I would like to visit, which I keep both in my head and in a designated list on the Google Maps app on my phone.

My first brew with the Aromaboy
Published on under the Coffee category.
For the last two weeks or so, the Aromaboy has been on my mind. An electric coffee brewer which takes up as much space as my kettle, the Aromaboy has a delightfully retro feel, which is most likely a result of this brewer being in production since 1979. The retro aesthetic this brewer has was a large part of why I bought it, but I also thought about the recommendations I had received. I asked a few people whether they thought the Aromaboy was worth the money even if I liked to brew coffee by hand and everyone with whom I spoke recommended I give the Aromaboy a try.

Coffee Chat with The Drip in Edinburgh
Published on under the Coffee category.
The Drip is one of a few police box cafes in Edinburgh, an idea which has intrigued me since I first found out about police box cafes. The Drip has locations in Morningside and Tollcross and serves espresso-based drinks to-go. I wanted to learn a bit more about the business so I reached out to The Drip on Instagram, who kindly responded to a few of my questions. Our chat is below. I hope you enjoy!
