Advent of Bloggers 2021: Day 2
Published on under the Advent of Bloggers (Series) category.Toggle Memex mode

I am writing a blog post every day from December 1st to December 24th, 2021, about a blogger whose writing or site I follow. My aim for this series is to help you discover new blogs and to help get the word out about content creators whose blogs I appreciate. You can read more about this series in the inaugural post where I chat more about this series. Let's begin!
@astrid.tech
I have been following astrid.tech's blog for the last few months. astrid.tech is run by Astrid Yu, who writes about various technical projects she is working on. In recent posts, Astrid has spoken about turning smartphones into fax machines, and experimenting with amateur radio, among other topics. My favourite posts that I have read so far were about Astrid's infrastructure. In a dedicated post on her blog, Astrid outlines what computers she uses and what she uses them for. Her primary workstation is called Banana. I love reading these sorts of posts about what technology other people use.
Astrid's blog is a mix between shorter notes and longer posts. Astrid has documented quite a few of the features launched on her site, another topic I find fascinating. I love reading about how sites are made. I feel like I am getting a behind the scenes tour and always learn something new about what is possible. Another feature on Astrid's site that I love is her About page with many clear, easy to navigate links on the side to various key pieces of information. There is even a vCard on that list!
The posts on astrid.tech that I have enjoyed thus far include:
- Adding Pi's to a cluster
- Infrastructure project
- Projects list (there are so many interesting ideas on this page)
- Can we turn smartphones into fax machines?
Wrapping Up
In yesterday's post, I featured Bjorn Warmedal's blog at warmedal.se. Hours after I had posted the blog post, Bjorn had written one of his own announcing that he would also be writing about one blogger for each day in the run up to Christmas. That's exciting! I would encourage any blogger to write about blogs that inspire them, whether it is for part of a series like this one or any time of the year. Posts that talk about bloggers makes discovering new websites easier. Who knows, you may find your next favourite blog is one of the ones I mention in this series!
That's it for the second edition of the Advent of Bloggers series. I am always on the hunt for new blogs so if you find one that interests you, do let me know (or, better yet, share it on your blog!). I am also working on a project or two that might aid in discovering even more personal websites. If you're looking for even more blogs to discover and cannot wait for the next addition to this series, consider checking out my blogroll, a list of sites I follow in my RSS reader. I'll see you tomorrow for Day three of this series!
