First day of spring
Published on under the Life category.
As I write, it is the first day of spring. I have been waiting for this day for a long time. The nighets are getting lighter, the mornings are getting brighter, the weather is warmer. Spring is perhaps one of my favourite seasons. It is the furthest away from winter. I like the sun and warmth. I am now able to start wearing t-shirts and thin jumpers during the day without feeling (too!) cold.

Computer-generated art
Published on under the Coding category.
Yesterday I had an idea: what kind of art could I make by using random numbers and a series of rules? I decided to write down a few notes on what my "rules" would be. What colours could be used? How would colours be chosen? Could colours change? Then, I implemented all of my rules in Python. At first, I tried implementing them in Lisp, but this proved to be a bit too difficult given my limited experience with the language. Python was a lot easier to use, especially because I planned to turn my colours into an image.

The Fellow Ode grinder: a few weeks later
Published on under the Coffee category.
If you talk to a coffee professional about how they can get the most out of their coffee, a common recommendation you will hear is to have the right grinder. Grinders impact one's ability to extract the flavours out of the coffee they have. When I first started drinking speciality coffee, I had a Hario Mini Mill. I made good coffee but I knew there was better. I could get much better filter coffee in a speciality coffee shop than I could at home. When I made a leap to the Baratza Encore, I realised a better grinder does indeed improve the taste of your coffee (as long as your technique is right).

A photo from last weekend
Published on under the Coffee category.
I was in Edinburgh last weekend for the first time in many months. It was nice to break out of my usual routine and do something different. I visited many coffee shops and two museums. If you are ever in Edinburgh, I would recommend visiting both the National Museums of Scotland and the National Gallery. If you happen to be reading this shortly before travelling, check out the Typewriter Exhibit at the National Museum. I saw not only a Lego typewriter in person (yes, Lego, and it works!) but many other interesting typewriters from history. Anyway, I digress.

How can I improve the typography on my site?
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
I have been thinking about writing a blog post for a few days now. I have not written in a while. I thought rather than continue waiting to think about the best idea, I should just write something and share it on my blog. The last few weeks have been 'life happens' weeks where other priorities have taken up my mental headspace. But for today I'd like to take a moment to blog and ask a question: how can I improve the typography on my site?
