Where the people are sweeter than the waffles
Published on under the Life category.
I return to the diner; warmly welcomed by staff and a regular I had met the previous day. I sat down with a smile. The regular has been going to this cafe for longer than I have been alive. Coming in from the rain, I feel warm.

IndieWeb Principles Poster
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
The rain outside here in San Francisco is unyielding. This is perhaps a sign that I should let my feet rest after two long days of walking outdoors. While the rain falls, I have taken an opportunity to do a bit of writing and design. I decided to make a poster that shows the IndieWeb principles. The poster, sized for A4 paper, is available in JPG and PDF forms.

I asked Jacob for how long he is staying in San Francisco. He responds "10 minutes." I smile.

Love and Playing Music
Published on under the Life category.
Is it possible to fall in love with a musical instrument? Yes. As I travel, I find myself lamenting the lack of musical instruments available to play. I feel "there could be music here", but without an instrument I cannot play.

When the moment strikes
Published on under the Life category.
Do you ever get the feeling that where you are right now is just where you are meant to be, even if your plans for the day have been derailed? A feeling of contentment, made all the more blissful by the recognition that what you are doing now wouldn’t have been possible if the day had gone the way you had planned.

Infrastructure dance

I glance from a coffee shop window. One day prior, a few steps from where I was seated, I listened in as a patron voiced his discontent with telecommunications companies. "Verizon are a bunch of crooks", he said. I laughed inside at his vocal expression, and listened in as I was able to capture a glimpse of American culture. Baristas made coffee in the background.

Blue, lavender, orange
Published on under the Life category.
The phases of the sunset in San Francisco are breathtaking; captivating. Last night, I found myself near the Bay. A thought popped into my mind: "I could see the sunset this evening." The first sunset I saw in San Francisco made me fall in love with the city. The sky was painted in a lavender colour, reminding me of the song "Lavender Haze" by Taylor Swift. The masterfully written lyrics, "I just want to stay in that lavender haze" ring in my mind as I write.

Ethereal
Published on under the Life category.
I rest on the grass. The tree beside which I sat was the place where, a day prior, I had my closest encounter with a hummingbird. Seeing the hummingbird, I was filled with joy. A bird that sparked my curiousity at the beginning of the pandemic after being featured in an Apple iPad advertisement on the television was in front of me. Its wings moved quickly. The bird hovered, going about its day; a little moment of joy.
