This post was written on Saturday, April 15th and published today, April 17th.
As I was reading The Guardian this morning, I read numerous new words. Writing this series has definitely made me more attentive to new word. When I encountered a word that intrigued me, I noted it down in Apple Notes for further review. I have three four new words for today:
- Hectoring: Talking loudly or abrasively.
- Amble: Walking slowly. I thought this would have something to do with preamble, but alas that was not the case!
- Dexterity: Skill doing something with one’s hands. This reminds me of the word “ambidextrous” which I learned while still in primary school.
- Ambidextrous (a word that wasn’t on my list but came to mind when writing the last point!): Being able to do something well with both one’s right and left hands, such as writing.
That’s it for Fun with Words today!
