Early this morning, I set myself an intention for the day: take note of some of the little things that happen today that bring you joy. My inspiration was my first "little bites" entry in the Moments of Joy series, where I listed a few moments of joy in one post that I may not otherwise have documented. As today went on, I noticed many things that brought me joy. Here are a few.
- Some flowers in a bush I walk past regularly are almost in full bloom; others are growing still. There are pink, white, and yellow flowers.
- As I was walking in a park, I saw a butterfly and thought it may fly in front of me. I stopped to let the butterfly past without getting in its way. The butterfly flew past.
- A cat rolled on its back in the street, like cats do when they are happy. When I got near, the cat stood guard, as if to protect what I assume was their owner's property.
- A bird was hovering in the sky, almost stationary. I was in awe.
- I noticed the scent that sometimes emerges in the air before rain. I finally know what it means for one to be able to "smell rain."
- A barista smiled as their gaze met mine.
- A group of teenagers laughed almost uncontrollably on a train. I love hearing people laugh.
- I saw a group of buildings where old and new are side by side from a different perspective on a new walk.
