I was preparing to make a cup of coffee and I suddenly got the urge to listen to Gloria by The Lumineers. I obliged, opening Spotify to play the track. Gloria was one of those songs that I listened to on repeat. The music, the rhythm, the accompanying Ballad of Cleopatra video together made for engaging musical and dramatic experience.
It had been a while since I had listened to Gloria. You know the feeling when you love a song but you need to take a break because you have listened it too much? I felt that way with Gloria, until today. When the words came into my head and I felt I needed to listen. I did, and I was brought back to the joy I experienced when I heard the song for the first few times. I was brought into the rhythm.
I went to weigh out coffee beans for the beverage I was about to prepare when Chateau by Angus & Julia Stone started playing, another of those songs that I listened to over again out of joy. In fact, I have put it on now; it brings me joy. Chateau was a partner while working for a while, among other songs by Angus & Julia Stone. Relaxing, delightful.
Spend some time today listening to a song you haven't heard in a while. One that brought you joy. Maybe even one to which you get the urge to dance because it is so you. Take delight in the melody.
