Spotify Wrapped

Spotify Wrapped. A year of one's music in review, packaged into a delightful, colourful interactive experience. I saw someone post their Spotify Wrapped and almost immediately went to Spotify, wondering if mine was ready. It was. I skipped through most of the review, searching for the headline statistic: who were the top artists to whom I had listened.

My Spotify Wrapped states that I have listened to Taylor Swift more than any other artist. All of the top five songs to which I listened to most were by Taylor Swift (yay!). In order:

1. Cruel Summer
2. Anti-Hero
3. the 1
4. Maroon
5. Delicate

I didn't realise I listened to Cruel Summer so much. I thought that one would be lower.

My Wrapped review told me I was in the top 0.5% of listeners of Swift's music. I am in the upper 99th percentile of Swift listeners on Spotify. Exploring more numbers, I listened to Taylor Swift music for 19,214 minutes in 2023 so far, which translates to 13.34 days. I would like to thank Taylor Swift for producing such wonderful music and making this possible.

I love the Wrapped format: a well-designed presentation that summarises one's music consumption over the year. From the top artists alone, I remembered the time I spent listening to a few Lady Gaga songs from the movie A Star is Born. Now I'm making more mental connections. Each song -- each artist -- in my top five has an associated memory or experience in my mind.
