One of the main reasons I wanted a Macbook was to build applications for iOS. In 2014, I watched many lectures from Stanford University's Developing iOS 7 Apps series ^1. The series covered Object-Oriented Objective-C. I was 11-12 at the time when I was watching the course. I cannot recall much of the material today, nor can I attest to how much I retained from that lecture series.

Fun With Words
Published on under the Fun With Words category.
It is Friday evening. From the window, I can see a pale lavender colour in the sky. Ever since hearing the song Lavender Haze by Taylor Swift, I have both had the song at the top of my head on many days and become more attuned to the lavender colours in the sky. An intriguing combination!

Little moments of joy on the web
Published on under the Moments of Joy (Series) category.
Last night, I was exploring personal websites and left numerous tabs open to which I wanted to come back and explore further. During my exploration, I found Anhvn ^1 published a blog post called "I love my website," linking to posts on the topic written by Winnie Lin ^2, Tracy Durnell ^3, Jeremy Keith ^4, and I. I seldom encounter links to my blog posts in the wild, other than through Webmentions. When I do, I always feel a little bit excited.

Write a little moment of joy
Published on under the Moments of Joy (Series) category.
I have been writing about little moments of joy on my website this year. From the time I heard Baby Shark playing loud on a train ^1 to the time I heard two young musicians playing music at Brandnburg Gate ^2, I have taken pleasure in documenting the little moments that made me smile, feel warm, and feel joy.

Porridge Overflow
Published on under the Moments of Joy (Series) category.
Porridge Overflow is not a delicious tale about a variant of stack overflows. Rather, porridge overflow is what just happened when I went to prepare a bowl of porridge. With an episode of Frasier in the background, I prepared some porridge using the microwave. After the microwave had chimed, indicating my bowl of deliciousness was ready, I opened the door to find... A porridge overflow.

Tea Routines in the UK
Published on under the Life category.
At a Homebrew Website Club meeting a few weeks ago, we discussed the tea culture in the UK. Mark and I, the co-hosts, live in the UK, so we spent some time talking about tea. A pattern emerged. We collectively named some times at which drinking tea was common after the hour of the day the tea was consumed. For instance, I noted that I was familiar with the ten o'clock and the three o'clock. Mark noted the elevenses, where you drink a cup of tea around 11am.

Technical Estimations

Earlier today, I moved all of the bookmarks, likes, and replies from my website to my bookmarks website that uses the Known platform^1. I am thinking about re-building my blog with 11ty, a popular JavaScript static site generator, too. I made a comment in the IndieWeb chat about my experience after encountering a few challenges (read: learning!), to which a few people responded. I am far into the the project, but I realised I don't have the mental headspace to take on the full migration right now.

The Rain
Published on under the Life category.
One morning, I was making my way to a Starbucks in Edinburgh. It was early in the morning. I was looking forward to enjoying a coffee in peace before bustle enveloped the city. I headed to the Quartermile, where there is a Starbucks (and also a speciality coffee shop from which I have had a great cup of tea in the past). As I was walking, it started to rain. Heavier and heavier. As I got close to the Starbucks, water was starting to soak through my trainers. My trousers were drenched. I stopped in the rain.

Exploring Personal Websites
Published on under the IndieWeb category.
I get excited when I find new personal websites. I remember early on when I joined the IndieWeb community I thought the IndieWeb webring was one of the best sites on the web. Until I had seen most of the sites on the webring, every time I clicked I found something new. Interesting blogs to follow, browse, and explore. With every site I saw, I got more excited. There are many people out there maintaining personal websites, from written blogs to photo blogs to single-page profiles.
