Bookshelf
Published on under the Technology category.
I do not read books very often but I do enjoy reading. While I have read more books on coffee than anything else, I am very fond of fiction, particularly Japanese fiction. I like getting to know the characters and seeing them change throughout a book.

Technology I Use
Published on under the Technology category.
Every so often I like reading about what technology other people use. I often do this when I am considering an upgrade or a change to part of my setup (which happens to be the frame of mind I am in right now). I wanted to take some time to share the technology that I use on a daily basis or at least frequently. Without any further ado, let's begin.

Tracking the Word Count on My Blog
Published on under the Technology category.
I check the word count after I have written every blog post. I do this because Typora, the markdown editor I use, displays a word count in the top left corner of the page. I'm not interested in the metric. It is difficult to avoid. At some point yesterday, my mind arrived at the idea that I should try to track the word count on my blog. I wanted to do this to improve my programming skills.

Writing an Analytics Bash Script: Part II
Published on under the Technology category.
My first attempt at writing an analytics bash script got me excited about bash scripting. My first script displayed the total number of page views my blog receives and the total number of people who have viewed my feed. The program was limited to reading logs for the last two days.

Writing an Analytics Bash Script
Published on under the Technology category.
I have had a commitment to not track analytics on this site. I believe that tools such as Google Analytics are verbose. They track too much information about users. I do not intend to change my policy on this matter. I did see on the IndieWeb wiki and on GitHub that some people have built their own analytics tools. Many of these rely on the logs that are collected by a web server rather than on a client-side script.

Owning a Raspberry Pi
Published on under the Technology category.
I've gone through about three topic ideas. This is the last time I am changing my mind. When I get tired, I lose the energy to think of great topics. This is my blog. Sometimes I'll write posts on a whim because I want to keep writing. I just thought that buying a Raspberry Pi may be one of the best investments I've made this year. I feel good about this because I was initially hesitant to purchase a Pi. If I had not have went through with the decision, I'd have not been able to build some of the projects I have worked on over the last few weeks.

Setting Up My Raspberry Pi
Published on under the Technology category.
I want to talk about a project I undertook yesterday. I set up my Raspberry Pi with a new SD card. I do not presently have the energy to think of a more interesting topic. These last few days have been tough. It happens sometimes. We all have days when we are not quite ourselves. This is a blog, not my journal, so I don't want to get bogged down in the details of reality. Here, I write about technology and coffee. To the story!
