Coffee Ratio Calculator 🔢
I often have trouble with coffee ratios. Lately, I have been winging the amount of coffee I use in a brew so that I don't have to calculate how much coffee to use. This is suboptimal because it means that I'm probably not producing the sort of cup that I want. I know that I like to use 15 grams of coffee per 250 grams of water but I don't usually do any maths to figure out how much more coffee I need if I want to use more water. I just take a punt.
I decided to put together a calculator that gives me the ratio information I will need in my brewing. This calculator:
- Figures out the most simple version of a ratio
- Calculates how much water to use in a recipe, given a particular ratio and coffee dose.
- Calculates how much coffee to use in a recipe, given a particular ratio and water amount.
Enter Your Ratio
Please enter the ratio of coffee to water you want to use.
Click here to enter the example value 60:1000 (60 grams of coffee per litre of water).
The most simple version of this ratio is 1:0.
Calculate Water to Use From Coffee Dose
The following calculator figures out how much water you will need to brew with a particular amount of coffee, based on the ratio stated above. Please fill out the "Enter Your Ratio" form before using this tool.
To brew with 0 grams of coffee using the 1:0 ratio, you will need 0 grams of water.
Calculate Coffee to Use From Water Amount
The following calculator figures out how much coffee you will need to brew with a particular amount of water, based on the ratio from the "Enter your ratio" form. Please fill out the "Enter Your Ratio" form before using this tool.
To brew with 0 grams of water using the 1:0 ratio, you will need 0 grams of coffee.
