I find a lot of my searching happens in the browser toolbar in Firefox, before I even get to Google. The “suggested links” help me find what I’m looking for, especially when I am developing locally and can’t remember the name of a URL I want to query with all of its parameters. In daily use, I use this feature regularly to find documents, blogs, and other resources that I may need to reference.
Maybe this feature is sort of what you’re looking for? But Firefox only seems to record URLs and titles. I must admit the suggested links feature is fast and lean. I love it!
